Our county Midyat is centre of a district named Turabdin. There are differen opinions in the name and establihment of our company. According to some sources, a lot of changes after the county name in Persian, Arabic and Syriac composed of a mixture of "MIRROR" means. According to another rumor Midyat was named from MATIATE means City of Caves. People who put forward this view, express "Matiat" Assyrian inscriptions the name of BC State that passes through the 9th century. In parallel to this view, showing that the caves in the place of first settlement in Midyat "Eleth" locality (Midyat 3 Km. Acırlı away and Recreation District located near the visiting-place) is said to be Roman era to the present day.
